Terms of Service

Effective date:

Please read these terms before using Word. For information about how we handle personal information, see our Privacy Policy.

1. Using Word

Word is operated by Andrew Betancourt ("we," "us," or "our"). These terms apply to the Word app and website. By using Word, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Word is not intended for children under 13. You must be legally able to agree to these terms or have permission from a parent or legal guardian where required by applicable law.

2. Your account

Provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in credentials secure, and contact us if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. You are responsible for your use of Word and for keeping your device secure.

3. Habits, proof, and app blocking

Word helps you track habits, submit photo or location proof, view progress, and optionally block distracting apps. Features depend on device compatibility, permissions, network access, and third-party services.

Photo verification uses AI and can make mistakes, including accepting or rejecting proof incorrectly. Location verification, streaks, reminders, and app blocking may also be delayed, interrupted, or inaccurate. We do not guarantee a particular habit outcome or uninterrupted access to these features.

Choose habits and proof methods that are safe and appropriate for you. Do not submit proof while driving or in other unsafe situations. Configure app blocking carefully so you can access essential services. Word is a personal productivity tool and does not provide medical or mental health advice.

4. Your content and acceptable use

You retain ownership of the content you submit, including habit information and photos. You give us permission to process that content only as needed to operate and provide Word, as described in our Privacy Policy. You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit your content.

Do not use Word unlawfully, submit content that infringes another person's rights, attempt to access another person's account, disrupt the service, bypass security controls, or misuse verification services. Do not submit photos containing unlawful material or personal information you do not have permission to share.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

Some features require a paid subscription. Available plans, prices, billing periods, and any trial terms are displayed before purchase. Apple processes App Store purchases through your Apple account.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through your Apple account subscription settings before renewal. If a free trial is offered, the purchase screen explains when it converts to a paid subscription. Manage or cancel your subscription through Apple, and use the restore purchases option in Word when available.

Deleting Word or your Word account does not cancel your subscription. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its applicable policies and any rights you have under law.

See the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions for Apple’s purchase terms.

6. Word and third-party services

Word's software, design, branding, and other materials belong to us or our licensors. You may use Word for your personal use in accordance with these terms and applicable App Store rules. These terms do not transfer ownership of Word to you.

Word relies on services provided by Apple and other providers. Their services may have separate terms and availability limits. For the iOS app, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies unless a separate applicable license is supplied with the app.

Read Apple’s standard license agreement.

7. Ending your use

You can stop using Word at any time. To request account deletion, email wordsupport.app@gmail.com. Our Privacy Policy explains deletion and information handling. Cancel any active App Store subscription separately through Apple.

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address misuse, security risks, legal requirements, or a material breach of these terms. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Any subscription or refund rights required by law remain unaffected.

8. Availability and responsibility

We work to provide a useful and reliable service, but Word is provided on an as-available basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not promise that it will always be available, error-free, or suitable for every purpose. Keep copies of information that is important to you.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of Word. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or takes away mandatory consumer rights available where you live.

9. Changes to Word or these terms

We may update Word and these terms as features, services, or legal requirements change. We will post revised terms here and update the effective date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice where required by law. Any changes affecting a paid subscription remain subject to applicable law and App Store requirements.

10. Contact

For questions about these terms or support, contact Andrew Betancourt at wordsupport.app@gmail.com.
